DETAILED ITINERARY
FIRST
DAY:
Cusco – Pilcopata.- The setting off
time es Cusco - 6.00 AM. Starting the travel by bus, going
through beautiful valleys and peasant communities. In the
middle of the morning, we’ll visit the pre-Inka graves of
Ninamarca, better known as “chullpas” to then go headed
to the Andean Village known as Paucartambo, where we’ll
have breakfast, to then take our chance to take a walk throught
that village. After that, we’ll resume our travel going
up the hill to reach the Acjanacu Summit of the Pass (Abra
de Acjanacu), which is located on 3850 m.a.s.l. (meters
above sea level). Right here we are going to get into National
Park of Manu, and if we are a bit lucky, we’ll enjoy of
a very beautiful landscape of the Rain Forest, better known
as “Low Jungle”. After lunch, we’ll get started on our way
up the hill to go through the so called “Forest of Clouds”
that is a land full of orquideas, heliconias, primitive
leaches, that are kinds of flowers. This is the homeland
of the only South-American bear, known as the bear of the
glasses. But sighting the bear of the glasses is a rare
event, because it is very shy and it is in extinction process
nowadays. On our way down the hill, will call to a stop
to get off our bus, to take a walk for about 30 minutes,
along which, we’ll get a chance to see the famous “gallito
de las rocas” , while it mates. This is an exotic Peruvian
flying-bird scientifically called as Rupicola Peruana. It
is the representative Peruvian National Bird. We’ll get
our chances to see other animals as trogons, quetzales,
tangaras and lots of others, as well. We’ll stay overnight
in Pilcopata Village, in a hotel called Albergue Gallito.
SECOND DAY:
Pillcopata – Yanayaco.- After having
a delicious breakfast, we’ll get on our way headed to Puerto
de Atalaya, where we’ll change our vehicle to get on a boat,
to then go headed down the river, to reach Shintuya, to
then go past the therapeutic-hot-srping bath place, where
we’ll get a bath to so get full of energy to then keep going
on our spectacular travel, always by boat to so voyage on
Alto Madre de Dios River. On our way, we’ll get our chances
to watch a great variety of Peruvian birds as garzas, martin
pescador (Martin the fisher), and the constant presence
of the vultures, from which the most spectacular one is
the Condor of the Jungle, better known as the King of the
vultures. By the afternoon, we’ll reach our lodging place
in Yanayaco.
PILCOPATA
Right there, we’ll take our rest sitting
in “perezosa” seats, that are a kind of hammocks, but to
sit, not to lie. This rest will be a kind of preparation
to later take a long night-time walk for about 50 minutes.
This walk will be headed to get to the place so called Collpa
de Tapires. Right there we’ll get a shelter place, which
is built four meters high from the ground, and equipped
with mattresses and defense against mosquitoes. We’ll wait
in silence the activity for the purpose of seeing the biggest
mammal of South-America eating the salty-clay. Afterwards,
we’ll get on our way back to the lodging place in Yanayaco,
to then go to bed to so dream of the angels of the jungle.
THIRTH DAY – YANAYACO:
We get up early to set off headed to
a nearby Collpa, where several species of parrots live.
Then, we’ll go back to our lodging place to have breakfast,
to then get ready to take a walk on hiking trails into our
Ecological Reservation, where we’ll enjoy of the view of
the assorted flora and fauna. The Neo-Tropical Jungle is
something like a scientific laboratory, from which up to
25% of the therapeutic products come to city laboratories.
It is necessary quoting that less than the 1% of the possibilities
all those plants give, have been analyzed and researched
so far.
BLANQUILLO - YANAYACO
So, we’ll learn something about the
therapeutic plants that grow in the jungle, and on our way,
will see monkeys, birds, some amphibian mammals and insects.
After lunch, we’ll go to the river to enjoy a fishing activity.
And, if someone is lucky enough to catch a piranha or any
other fish, we’ll cook or fry it to try its taste. At night-time,
we’ll go to catch alligators or just to watch them (This
is called the alligator-activity)
FOURTH DAY.- Yanayaco
– Cusco.
Alter breakfast, we’ll get started on
our way up the river headed to Atalaya, where we’ll get
our luggage transfered from the boat to the bus, to then
set off headed to Cusco City, in which we’ll arrive at about
the night fall.
